Regional Community DAO

PROPOSED REGIONAL COMMUNITY DAO

Considering the diversity in culture and how adoption could differ based on where we are from, it is good for us to know that regional communities are one key way of driving adoption. However, there are major things that align, and this document is to help us understand the fact that having a Regional community helps to encourage inclusiveness and sets aside discrimination while adoption is being pursued.

The purpose of the Regional community is to establish a framework that enables the regional community to secure funding from the Archway Foundation.

Considering the technological landscape, projects operating on the Archway blockchain, and the objective of onboarding a vast user base, it is imperative to recognize the necessity for a grassroots approach to user acquisition, community cohesion, and expansion. This underscores the need for a regional community strategy that addresses the specific technological needs of diverse global populations and how Archway fulfills those needs.

Consequently, the Regional Community DAO constitutes a strategy with a central focus on allocating funds through the Community Treasury to RC with a national or regional orientation. These RC are tasked with executing activities such as user onboarding, translation, event organization, and collaborations with local communities or entities, all aimed at fostering widespread adoption of the Archway blockchain.

This calls for a community of people from around the world who:

  • Have a basic understanding of Archway blockchain
  • Understand the technological needs of their locations and are driven to source out persons who will take up Archway’s technology to solve those needs. That is, to bring builders.
  • Have shown a track record of leadership, transparency, and accountability within Archway’s community.
  • Are interested in helping people of their country or region understand the technology of Archway, by translations into local languages.

HOW THINGS COULD BE REGIONAL COMMUNITY

To express the purpose of establishing new RC clearly:

  • Enhance and expand upon existing regional communities that have exhibited significant growth.
  • Provide an open opportunity for the creation of new regional communities or facilitate their consolidation into larger entities.
  • Emphasize that the focus of these new communities should be regional rather than topic-based.

It’s worth noting that many countries share a common local language, for instance, Latin-speaking nations, Korean-speaking nations, and Portuguese-speaking nations. These countries can initially form a unified community, and as their numbers grow, they can develop their own distinct content.

REQUIRED METRICS FOR GUILD TO BE FORMED OR ALLOWED TO OPERATE

To be eligible for the establishment and operation of RC, the following criteria should be fulfilled:

  • Demonstrate a foundational understanding of Archway (Builders are a priority)
  • Include a certified Archway developer as a part of the team.
  • Have at least one guild member with a minimum of six months of experience within the Archway ecosystem.
  • Ensure that team members possess expertise in areas such as marketing, community management, business development, etc.

KEY FOCUS AREA FOR REGIONAL COMMUNITY

RC should focus on the following key areas:

  • Local meetups (offline or online) within universities, NGO organizations, etc.
  • Translation of materials into local languages.
  • Onboarding more developers into the ecosystem.
  • Onboarding projects from other chains, web2, or new ones to Archway.
  • Local or regional partnerships for community growth.
  • Open bounties for local community members to participate in.
  • Create educational avenues for community members to learn and understand Blockchain, cryptocurrency, and Archway, e.g.
  • AMA sessions, co-marketing, and other activities with ecosystem projects.

WHAT REGIONAL COMMUNITY IS QUALIFIED TO TAKE FUNDING FOR ACTIVITIES?

Guilds who are just getting started MUST meet the following criteria to qualify to take funding for their own activities:

  • Complete the onboarding process to be done by DAO councils.
  • Meet the criteria for “REQUIRED METRICS FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO BE FORMED OR ALLOWED TO OPERATE” above.

WHAT CAN BE CLASSIFIED AS A SUCCESSFUL REGIONAL COMMUNITY?

A RC can be classified as successful if it achieves the following goals or growth:

  • Trains a certain number of Archway developers.

  • Holds events with projected goals achieved.
  • Holds a hackathon with proof of projects participated.

I really like the idea of starting to build out communities in various cities. I’d be interesting in working with you to kickstart some of these ideas. I think it would make sense to start with 1 city and build out this structure and see the interest level of the community. Then we can easily expand to other regions. It’s worth checking out https://superteam.fun/ to see how solana kickstarted some of their regional communities.
